Sounds of Night

The owl is screeching in the sky
A hunter’s voice as darkness falls
With swooping wing that never stalls
Her talons full, she soars up high

A lone wolf howls across the night
With dew rising beneath her feet
Her call again, a mate to meet
The family pack now gone from sight

And gently falls the April rain
Amid the rustling forest trees
In echoes of a springtime breeze
The Earth has come alive again
