A Lover’s Request

There is no greater beauty I can see,
Than one that sets the heart so gently free,
The one great truth found in our destiny,
The softest touch that burns with wondrous glee.
No song is sung between the ocean quay
And tidal swirl, nor scream of wild banshee,
Yet words are heard that speak ‘how I love thee’
For love alone can set the spirit be
To dance and writhe in this, a lover’s spree,
I call thy name and bid thee come to me,
And meet me here beneath our willow tree,
Once more to sit so sweetly on my knee,
Or chase me darling through the grassy lea,
Just one more time, my love, oh please agree
