Prompt: Songs that stick in your head
Most songs that stick in my head are not welcome there. They are the annoying bullshit advertising ditties played on the radio. I am not going to irritate myself by looking them up on Youtube, but undoubtedly some complete twank has put them up there because quite frankly they are an idiot.
For this post, I am going to feature two albums that just seeing a glimpse of a cover will set music playing in my head. I am going to start with that album from 1978 (ouch!!!). Jeff Wayne’s retelling of the HG Wells classic War of the Worlds. ‘Dada daaaa’ and ‘uuuuuuullllaaaaaaa’ are already echoing in my head. Not only is it a great album of utter awesomeness it inspired me to read the novels of HG Wells. So here we go from the original 1978 version, of course
The second album is Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells. The original ‘tubes’ was released in 1973 (oh my, just put me in the old folks home now). Since then Mike has taken it to diverse levels of bloody brilliance I can only do my best to capture some of that here.
And because I was there
And that’s me done!
