Formed in Leyton, North London, Iron Maiden is a heavy metal band. Formed in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris the band’s discography has grown to thirty-eight albums. Iron Maiden are pioneers of the new wave of British heavy metal from the 1980’s onwards.
Aces High, written by Steve Harris, is Iron Maiden’s eleventh single, from the album Powerslave. The lyrics are written from the point of view of an RAF pilot fighting against the Luftwaffe during the first military engagement that was purely airborne, the Battle of Britain.
