The Lion and the Lamb

A path secluded by a silent roar
As if feet had never walked here before
Grasmere’s vale spread its way far below
On top the world we sat between the two
We felt the winds of our destiny blow
Above the hate that fuelled our darkest fears
Releasing love in all its mighty force
While touching gently over future years
If we dared to be and followed its course.
It all seemed easy on the craggy tor
A different world in different spheres
For love should bear no regret or remorse
And ours would rock the pious status quo
If we could turn away from all we knew
