Hazel O’Connor and Tea

Form: American Forte Sonnet

They’re playing ‘Will You’ on the radio
A saxophone lilts across the cold air
And those old thoughts mingle into the flow
Recalling moments you and I could share
Always it seems so cruel and unfair
When deep in my heart you are always there
Hazel sings and again I sip my tea
Recalling the love that was you and me
I close my eyes and once more I can see
Your eyes that shimmered with the deepest of blue
Like the universe; but my thoughts drift free
To that dark hour with nothing I could do
The beauty of our love still remains true
And the Raven smiles for his Rose, for you
