Street Mog

Form: Blank Verse Sonnet

On cold windy nights I remember you
You said I was cute while tickling my ears
You best friend forever, no matter what
The most beautiful kitten there could be
With baby blue eyes that stared love at you
And soft ginger fur like sweet marmalade
As I curled on your lap and you heard me purr
Like all kittens I grew up, became a cat
Then you began to ignore my meow
Then you let me out and never back in
No matter how much I cried at the door
Rejected, left to roam the streets alone
My fur is matted and my face is scarred
Why did you pretend that you loved me then?
