Salt Water

Form: Free Verse

My hand rests on the smoothness
the gentle pathway that leads to your pleasure
and my desire
yet my focus is the taut skin of your ankle
am I so lost in thought as I seem
when casually teasing
hardly daring to glance at your face
a mask of shyness hiding my intent
it’s a brief relaxation in the shallow waters of love
and we both know I like to swim deep
where the waves no longer ripple, but crash in a tempest
of emotions
where you drown in the erotica of sensation
and we both knew
how good it would be
the acts of love that leave a trace
in the burning passion of flesh
and my fingers draw on your belly
‘ready to swim?’
