By the Seine

Form: Brisbane Sonnet

Bathers at La Grenouillère by Claude Monet

And by the river on those summer days
Where so many have flirted in the sun
Before we came along with hands held tight
Romance is dancing as you hold my gaze
In this city of love kissing begun
As we say a good evening to the night
We walk beside the mighty river Seine
Still hand in hand as if the clocks had stopped
To hold us in this, a moment of love
As the sun turns to softly falling rain
We stood so still as all our kisses popped
Like bubbles floating, drifting high above
We stand in love until we are wet through
Just to feel Paris holding me and you
