The mother goddess symbolized by the full moon represents birth, nurturing, and actualized potential. She is the seed planted in the new moon and now in flower. Aligned with natural energy and the full power of adult maturity she is the goddess of compassion and understanding. She is caring, forgiving and open to change.
The mother goddess also has a dark side when we are holding on to the inner need to be compassionate towards others and allowing that restriction of energy in a self-serving way rather than allowing the free-flow of life’s energies. It is when we allow ourselves to be entertained by our own kind intentions but forget the people around us should be allowed to live freely and to their own potential, not ours.
The names of the mother goddess are many, including – Demeter, Cerridwen, Arianrhod, Isis, Aradia, Ishtar, Artemis and Astarte.
