Form: Burns’ Sonnet
Mythical beasts; some see a unicorn
With flowing rainbows for a tail and mane
And others see the green clad leprechaun
That’s not quite how it all works in my brain
A mermaid, a beautiful thing it’s said
She summons the sailors into the deep
Leaving wives and children a death to weep
Yes, I know, I am not right in the head
I see the darkness in a fairy’s tale
The malevolence that lingers behind
It wasn’t well hidden nor hard to find
Disney tries hiding it to no avail
Anderson’s stories were meant to be grim
So, maybe, thinking my way honours him
