Busto Sonetto 2 Notes

Meter: No meter requirement
Structure: Quintain, quatrain and quintain
Rhyme Scheme: abcba deed fghgf

Example: Divine Pleasures by Jez Farmer

The chime that travels in to yesterday
An echo of youth now so distant
When the heat of summer meant endless fun
Responsibility non-existent
When all we had to do was run and play
The bells of sweet coolness would call out
As it melted on the pale wafer cone
Divine the pleasures before we were grown
And found what this life would soon be about
With working long hours without any slack
A breath becomes political debate
And the old dreams of youth seem distant friends
Let the bells ring out before it’s too late
As ice cream cones take the mind gently back
