His Own

Form: Common Measure

The warmth of sun-kissed upon the earth
To welcome a new bloom
Beautiful face kissed by the gods
Enlightening the gloom
A blossom of summer delight
Shining through hot days
To gently nod on a cool breeze
As love reflects sun rays
An artist took up his paintbrush
Displaying all he’s shown
Each stroke of paint a claim to fame
The sunflower his own
Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh, 1888, oil on canvas. Currently housed by the National Gallery, London, UK
