Winter’s Bough

Form: Empat, Empat

From winter’s bough a lonely song
Echoes across the empty field
She chirps her song the whole day long
Until twilight demands she shield
But as the dawn come again to call
From winter’s bough a lonely song
As flakes of snow begin to fall
And still her voice is sounding strong
The shortest day with night so long
Turns the wheel towards coming spring
From winter’s bough a lonely song
Her voice sings to the Solstice king
In my heart I feel her delight
And find the tome to sing along
While setting fires to warm the night
From winter’s bough a lonely song
