Form: French Sonnet 8
My heart was forever broken
When the cemetery gates closed
No more words of love are spoken
It wasn’t so long since I proposed
With a ring as my love’s token
And love conquered all, I supposed
With eyes so bright and lashes long
My heart knew love couldn’t be wrong
We forgot to consider fate
And her plans behind the church gate
And my tears congealed in the rain
To a better place she has gone
She’s free from tears and free from pain
And alone I must carry on
