White Sails

Form: Italian Octave 2

The masts chatter casually on the breeze
From where there have been to where they will go
The trials and tribulations that flow
And how the ever-changing tides at ease
As the weather-worn hands tack to the wind
To follow the stars to a distant land
The white sails on the course he had planned
Ans time shines in sailors eyes that once grinned
The Museum at Le Havre by Claude Monet,1873. Oil on canvas. National Gallery, London, UK
