At the Gallows

Form: Keats Sonnet

An execution they have come to see
As from the rope today a man will swing
And his spirit will never be reborn
For his crimes, his soul can never be free
For some men are simply born evil, right
Child of the devil, or that sort of thing
And no one wonders if any will mourn
When such a death can only bring folk glee
His body drops the crowd begin to sing
For justice done in the pale morning light
His body hangs still , people hush and peek
And in the silence their cheer turns to fright
Suddenly, the hanged man started to speak
