#Writephoto – For My Beautiful Hoplos

Thank you KL for another awesome prompt, a bit of a dream prompt for an aquarist poet, I must say. The prompt can be found here – https://new2writing.wordpress.com/2021/07/22/writephoto-subsea/

It just had to be about my Hoplo catfish

For My Beautiful Hoplos
Form: Novelinee

The day they came home they seemed so, so small
With speckled skin and a bright beady eye
As they sought out their fun playing tailball
From her tail to his they made the ball fly
And as they quickly grew so did the tank
My catfish need room for their fun and games
Until one day a nested bubble bank
Appeared; grown up they had different aims
Two became four, now they’re all playing games

Author’s note: There is currently a bubble nest so maybe four will be more quirky characters in my tank

    1. The catfish tanks are big, as they grow to between 7 and 9 inches long so need the space for ther shenanigans – and height clearance too as they are surface breathers.
