The River

Form: Ivorian Sonnet 64

I watched the river in its drifty flow
In its waters I saw the goddess go
And knew nature and spirit must be one
As my thoughts entwined with the current swirls
To push my feelings out the comfort zone
As around the bend where the river wends
My wounded heart must go release its tears
As my soul hurts, my pain the goddess mends
Each tear I cry in water disappears
The river washes as the past unfurls
In the motion my pain and grief upends
As if all my senses have come undone
Yet my goddess has cradled all my fears
And in her love I feel a new peace grow
