Anna Andreyevna Gorenko, better known by her pen name Anna Akhmatova, was a poet and considered one of the most influential Russian poets of the 20th century. With work ranging from short lyric poems to intricately structured cycles Akhmatova was shortlisted for the Nobel Prize in 1965 and received three nominations for the award in 1966
