The Boulevard Montmartre at Night

The Boulevard Montmartre at Night
Form: Nocturna

After the rain, reflections of light
Captivate the creative soul
With impressions of Parisian night
As he sits in a café with a glass of wine
He sips initial sketches in kohl
Vagaries of sight in a quick line
And his paint mingles as if compelled
But time was not a thing he stole
The briefest moment captured, not held
The Boulevard Montmartre at Night by Camille Pissarro, 1897. Oil on canvas. The National Gallery, London, UK
