Clerihew Notes

An English poetry form created by Edmund Clerihew Bentley, the Clerihew is a quatrain poem with the following rhyme scheme

aabb

The first line is a person’s full name and the final three lines sum up the person named in the first line, often in a humorous style. The lines can be of differing lengths.

Example

There Is Only One… by JezzieG

… Phoenix Stewart
Flying the rainbow he’s always alert
But crossing the road he often lilts
While walking through town on his stilts
