Country Life

Form: Beymorlin Sonnet

Her nest is snug, perfect for a small mouse
A place to sleep and store the nuts and seeds
Her face twitches as she looks at her house
The best house she thinks that meets all her needs
Her cosy nest at the end of the day
Her heart’s peace as she relaxes within
A tart of rye behind walls of dry hey
No blowsy winds reach to tickle her chin
Her banquet eaten this lady of class
She snuggles to gently sleep for the night
All huggled among the freshly picked grass
A blanket she’s woven in the sunlight
The sweet country mouse is happy here
It beats town living that only brings fear
